Illustration Friday: Balloon

As I didn't make myself a pumpkin pie this holiday, and was feeling deprived, I had determined that, whatever the topic, I would take a bit of time out today to do an Illustration Friday sketch. The topic is "balloon," which really didn't inspire me too much. But I MUST have my dessert, so I did take enough time to do a small 20 minute oil sketch of my grand-daughter when she was just learning to walk on her own. Not great art, but a low calorie treat for myself, at any rate!

wouldn't it be nice if we could tie about 20 balloons to them to keep them from falling?

I love the way it captures that look they have of getting ready to fall, trying to keep the balancing act together with the forward momentum

Yes, I like the 'search for balance' look, too. Shortly after the photo was taken that I based this painting on, my grand-daughter had a fall - not even a hard one- and her leg broke. The doctors discovered a benign tumor in her bone. She later had surgery to remove it, but it seems to grow back. But not even two stretches in a leg cast has slowed her down! Oh, for the resilience of children!

How very lovely. My little granddaughters love balloons as well and I can remember when they use to totter like them. I just read your comment, I am very glad that she is Ok.
