Rockport Skiffs...

I finally got slits sewn and slides and photos taken of the "Rockport Skiffs" tapestry, so here it is!

I've never done a tapestry small enough to
hang above our livingroom mantle, but this one fits! It may hang there...for awhile, anyway.

Thanks so much! The colors on the photo are not quite as rich as in the actual tapestry. I'm hoping the slides I took turn out better!

Wow! Your rockport skiffs are gorgeous, so blue and so watery, and I love the way the light plays on the water.

Looking at your 2 lighthouse cartoons I immediately chose the "unsideways" one, because (and I never thought this through before) I don't mind weaving a straight line vertically, but the lovely curved line of the shore, and the subtle cloud shapes would come out so much better when woven horizontally. Still, it will be a great lesson to weave it both ways.

I enjoy your blog very much.

I agree abiut the lighthouse, Jan. If I were to only weave it once, I'd definately go bottom-up. Those clouds need the horizontal hatching! But I think it will be a good teaching demo. Thanks for visiting me!

"Rockport Skiffs" is just wonderful! Looks great above your mantle! I've never woven anything too big to hang on a wall in my house....maybe someday...

I can almost hear the water slapping against the sides of boats. Great work.

That goes there very well! I can hear the clock ticking from here.

String Theory

Ok, I don’t know anything about string theory, except maybe what I see on The Big Bang. But there is an excellent fiber exhibit right now ...
